The Association of Jewish Administrators of the CSA: Who We Are
From our Declaration, Spring, 2022: The AJA is a benevolent group of professional supervisors and administrators who recognize the importance of the contributions of Jewish individuals in education. The Association exists for the purpose of celebrating these contributions and accomplishments while providing supports and networking opportunities to members. The Association will focus on creating and strengthening professional growth, social and emotional care, and mentoring while recognizing Jewish heritage.
We were founded in the spring of 2022, by a small group of 13 leaders in NYC public school education, led by Dr. Jay Findling. For months, we gathered in person and over zooms to build the Association of Jewish Administrators (AJA) of the CSA from the ground up, because we passionately believed that as Jewish educators and leaders in education, we have an incredibly rich heritage and an indelible cultural ethos that should be a voice at the table in any discussion that contributes to the strengthening of education and equity for the students of New York City. In October of 2022, we held our first membership drive, and have steadily grown since, We are now a strong network of supervisors and administrators who are members of the CSA , both active and retired, who come together to support one another professionally while celebrating the rich history of the Jewish people and the legacy of its contributions to education.
Tikkun Olam is a Hebrew phrase meaning "repair of the world" and refers to the Jewish concept of working to improve and heal the world, both physically and spiritually. We believe that coming together as Jewish professionals in education, along with our non-Jewish allies and friends, to both celebrate the rich heritage of Jewish contributions to education and to network with and support one another, particularly during these trying times, is one critical way of repairing our world and making it better for those who come after us. If you've never joined us before, please review our site, or reach out to us to learn more about how membership and participation in the AJA is the professional and social step that you didn't know you needed to take.
